Take-Two Reaffirms GTA VI Lands November 19, 2026

Fan Hub Newsdesk · 3 min read

If you were bracing for another delay, exhale. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has once again gone on the record that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The reaffirmation shows up in a proxy statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on July 17, 2026. In it, Take-Two describes its coming fiscal year as a potential "major inflection point" led by the planned November 19th release of the game. When a company writes something into an SEC filing, it is about as official as statements get.

This follows the opening of pre-orders and lines up with earlier comments from CEO Strauss Zelnick, who has publicly maintained that the studio is holding firm on the date. The company is projecting record results built around the launch, which is a strong signal that Rockstar and Take-Two are confident the state opens on schedule.

For fans who lived through the earlier slip from May to November, seeing the date restated in a legal filing is the reassurance the community has been waiting for. As always, we will flag it immediately here if anything official changes — but right now, the countdown to November 19 is very much on.

It is worth explaining why a filing carries more weight than a trailer or a social post, because the distinction is the entire reason this is news. Marketing material is written to build excitement and can be quietly revised. A document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission is written for regulators and shareholders, and a company that states a release date there is making a claim investors are entitled to rely on. Companies do not casually print dates in filings that they expect to miss.

The history behind this date explains why the community reads every mention so carefully. Grand Theft Auto VI was revealed in December 2023 with nothing more specific than a 2025 window. In May 2025 that became a firm date of May 26, 2026, with Rockstar apologising for the wait. In November 2025 it moved again, to Thursday, November 19, 2026, with a second apology and an explanation about finishing the game to the standard players expect. Two delays from the original window is a lot of movement, and it is why a restatement counts as reassurance rather than routine.

What the filing does not do is guarantee anything. A date in a filing is a plan, and plans can change; if Rockstar needed more time it would announce another delay and take the reputational hit, exactly as it did twice already. The useful takeaway is narrower than certainty: as of the most recent official word, nobody at Take-Two or Rockstar is signalling anything other than November 19.

There is also a practical detail buried in the schedule that matters more than the reaffirmation itself. Launch day is November 19, but the digital pre-load and the physical release both land on November 12, a week earlier. If you intend to play at launch, the download is the thing to plan around rather than the date on the box, particularly given the size modern Rockstar releases tend to reach.

One more piece of context from the same filings. Take-Two has described the coming fiscal year in terms of records driven by this launch, which is a useful reminder of the stakes. This is not a game the publisher can afford to release quietly or to rush. That cuts both ways: it argues against a casual delay, and it argues for one if the alternative were shipping something unfinished.
