Privacy policy

Written in plain language, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody. It describes what this site actually does — if you find a gap between this page and reality, the page is what needs fixing and we want to know.

Who we are

GTA VI Fan Hub is an independent, unofficial fan site about the video game Grand Theft Auto VI. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive. This policy explains what happens to your information when you visit or use the site.

What we collect, and when

You can read everything on this site without giving us anything. We do not require an account to browse news, guides, the map, or the checklist.

Information reaches us only in these situations:

  • If you create an account, we store your email address, the username and display name you choose, and an encrypted form of your password. Accounts exist so you can post in the forums and comment on articles.
  • If you post in the forums or comment on an article, that content is stored and is publicly visible alongside your username. Forum posts are content you publish, not private messages.
  • If you fill in one of our forms, such as a notification signup or a supporter checkout, the information you enter goes to our forms provider so we can respond to you.
  • Your browser stores a small amount of information locally on your own device: your light or dark theme preference, your cookie choice, and, if you are logged in, a session token that keeps you signed in.

Advertising and cookies

This site is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense, which uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

You can choose whether we allow personalised advertising using the banner shown on your first visit, and you can change that choice at any time from the link in our footer. If you decline, we instruct Google to serve non-personalised ads instead, which are based on general context rather than your browsing history. Non-personalised ads still use cookies for things like frequency capping and fraud prevention.

You can also review and control Google's own advertising settings directly, and opt out of personalised advertising from Google across all sites, at Google's Ads Settings page. Most browsers additionally let you block or delete cookies entirely, though doing so may affect how parts of this and other sites work.

Third parties we rely on

We keep the list of companies involved as short as we reasonably can. Each of the following receives some information as a consequence of how the site works:

  • Google AdSense — serves the advertising that funds the site, and sets cookies as described above.
  • Supabase — stores accounts, forum posts and comments, and handles login.
  • Netlify — hosts the site and serves the pages you request, which involves processing your IP address as part of delivering them.
  • GoHighLevel — processes our forms, including notification signups and supporter checkout.
  • YouTube — some pages embed official trailers. We use YouTube's no-cookie embed domain, which reduces but does not entirely eliminate tracking by Google when you play a video.
  • Amazon and other retailers — some links on our where-to-buy page are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, the retailer may set cookies and may pay us a commission. This costs you nothing extra and never changes what we recommend.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not buy email lists or send unsolicited email. We do not ask for your Rockstar, PlayStation, Xbox or any other gaming account credentials, and you should never give them to any fan site, including this one.

Your choices and your data

You can change your advertising choice at any time from the footer. You can edit your display name and signature from your profile, and you can remove your own forum posts and comments using the remove option shown on content you wrote.

If you want your account and its content deleted, contact us and we will handle it. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to how it is used. We will honour those requests regardless of where you live, because it is simpler and fairer than checking.

Children

This site is about a video game that has not yet received an age rating and which, based on the series, is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account here, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we add a service that changes what is collected, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We are a small independent site and the honest commitment we can make is this: the policy will describe what the site actually does, and if the two ever disagree, the policy is the thing that is wrong and we want to hear about it.

Questions about any of this, or want your account removed? Get in touch. You can review Google's own advertising controls at Google Ads Settings.
