GTA VI release date, and every delay

Current official date

November 19, 2026

On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Reaffirmed in a Take-Two filing with the SEC in July 2026 — the most recent official word, and a far stronger signal than a marketing post, because companies do not put dates they expect to miss into securities filings.

The full official timeline

Two delays, from an original 2025 window. Every entry below traces to Rockstar, Take-Two, or an SEC filing — no insider claims, no predictions.

  1. December 4, 2023

    Trailer 1, and a 2025 window

Rockstar revealed the game with its first trailer and committed only to 2025, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No month, and no PC version — a pattern that has held ever since.

  2. May 2, 2025date corroborated

First delay — pushed to May 26, 2026

Rockstar moved the game out of 2025 to a specific date, May 26, 2026, and apologised directly for the release landing later than fans expected.

  3. May 6, 2025

    Trailer 2

The second trailer arrived four days after the delay. Notably, the post itself restated no release date — it was pure scene-setting for Vice City.

  4. November 6, 2025date corroborated

Second delay — moved to November 19, 2026

Rockstar pushed the date a second time, to Thursday, November 19, 2026, apologising again and attributing the extra months to finishing the game at the level of polish players expect.

  5. May 22, 2026

The date enters a legal filing

Take-Two's annual Form 10-K stated that GTA VI is planned for release on November 19, 2026, inside its fiscal 2027. A date written into an SEC filing carries far more weight than a marketing beat.

  6. June 25, 2026

    Pre-orders open

Pre-orders went live at midnight local time across storefronts, with two editions and a bonus pack for early buyers. No early-access offer appeared anywhere in the official announcement.

  7. July 17, 2026

    Reaffirmed to shareholders

A proxy statement filed with the SEC restated the November 19, 2026 launch and built the company's outlook around it — the most recent official word on the date.

On dating: Rockstar's Newswire posts do not display a publication date. The two delay-announcement dates above are corroborated from the earliest public web-archive captures of those posts, which brackets them tightly but is not a Rockstar-stated date. Dates drawn from SEC filings and Take-Two press releases are exact.

Which platforms, and the PC question

PlayStation 5Xbox Series XXbox Series S

GTA VI is not playable on PlayStation 4. Sony's own listing states the game runs only on PlayStation 5 consoles, so there is no last-generation version.

There is no PC version announced — and the situation is stronger than an unconfirmed rumour. Rockstar has never issued any statement about a PC release for GTA VI: not a date, not a window, not even a "no plans at this time." Take-Two's own annual filing names only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in connection with the game. Anyone quoting a GTA VI PC date is not quoting Rockstar.
